How to Find Inbound Link

We covered the importance of having inbound links to your website and blog. One way to get inbound links is by leaving comments on relevant blogs, websites and forums then linking your comment to your blog or website.

Having low quality inbound links to your site will damage your search engine rankings.

There are two things to think about every time you consider linking to a website, blog or forum.

Is the quality of the site the same as or better than the quality of your site?
Is the site rank equal to or higher than yours?
In our opinion, quality trumps page rank. But page rank is important too.

How do you know if a site is highly ranked?

There are two measuring systems that are most important to look at: Google Page Rank and Alexa Traffic Rank.

According to Netcraft’s January 2021 Survey there are about 200 million active websites on the Internet. So, a website with an Alexa Traffic Ranking of 2 million is in the top 2.5% of these websites.

Google’s Page Rank is much more complicated, but basically it’s how Google rates a web page based upon its internal and external links. It takes into consideration the quality of the inbound links, which is another reason to ensure you’re building only quality inbound links to your website and blog.

If you want a more technical explanation of how Google Page Rank works, click here.

You could go to the Alexa and Google Page Rank sites every time you want to check out a blog or website’s ranking, or you could save yourself a lot of time and install their status bars in your browser.

This way you have a live view of the site’s Alexa Traffic Rank and Google Page Rank without ever leaving the site. You’ll find instructions to just that below.

These instructions pertain to FireFox as we feel it’s the best browser for us working on the Internet.

Alexa Status Bar

Go to Alexa
Click on “Install as Status Bar”
Click “Accept and Install”
Follow the instructions
You should now be able to see the Alexa Traffic Rank for every
website or blog you visit
The lower the number, the better
Google PageRank Status

Go to Pizza SEO
Click on “pagerankstatus.xpi” (next to install)
Click Install Now
Click Restart Firefox
You should now be able to see the Google Page Rank for every website or blog you visit (if they’re ranked)
The higher the number, the better
This is what the bottom right hand corner of your FireFox browser should look like after installing these status bars. Now you have a quick and easy way to see if the website or blog is highly rated before spending your time writing a comment.

So, you’re much better off spending your time leaving comments on

blogs and websites that are not only rated highly, but have good quality content.

We’re curious… How do you find quality sites for your niche?
